My New Diaper Bag

This is the cute diaper bag my very talented sister-in-law made for me. Much better than the blah one I was carrying before. If you want her to make one for you, I'm sure she can be persuaded (for a price). Email me and I'll pass it on to her.

A Plug for Coop Preschools

I love Hunter's preschool. I have really watched him blossom last year and this year. I am so glad I discovered coop preschools. For those of you who don't know how they work, they are organized under a community college. We actually earn a credit from the school. There is a faculty adviser for our preschool and a professional teacher. The rest of the school is run by the moms. We make up the board of directors. I am the newsletter/yearbook editor. There is a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, etc. We make policy decisions and we also help out in the classroom generally once a week or so. It has been so fun to get to know the kids that Hunter hangs out with and their mothers. Most of them live within walking distance of us. I also love being with Hunter and seeing what he is learning. I think he feels really safe with the other mothers too, because he told me at the beginning of the year that he was okay when I wasn't at preschool because the other moms were there for him. Anyway, if you are in the market for a preschool, I would highly recommend a coop.

Hunter and his cell phone

I gave Hunter my old cell phone and it is his constant companion. If he isn't taking pictures with it, he is playing music on it. I frequently hear the gentle strains of "low rider" coming from his direction. He also informed me the other day that his phone can make calls even though it isn't activated. He dialed 911. Yikes.

Our first clam bake

Alex took the boys on the fathers & sons campout last weekend. They camped on the sound and brought home some clams and gooey ducks that they dug up. We had fun playing with them. They spit at you when you hold them. We went over to a friend's house to cook them up. We didn't realize though that parts of the beach are contaminated, so we weren't able to eat our friend's little clams. Alex, on the other hand, brought home "safe" clams, but they were huge. Bigger than my whole hand. We cooked one up, and tried it, but it wasn't that good. Something about seeing all the anatomical parts of a clam that big kind of ruins it. Next time, though, we'll know where to go and which kind of clams to get.

Preschool Fieldtrip

Hunter's last fieldtrip of the year, he road the ferry to Vashon Island and back and then visited the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium.
The Ferry

I'm sure the regular patrons were thrilled to see a mass of preschool kids and their parents board the ferry. The ride took about 20 minute each way. The kids loved it and even saw a harbor seal swimming next to the ferry.
The Zoo

Our favorite animals were the "pea-hawk," the sea otters, the penguins, and the monkeys. They named the monkeys "Chas & Eddie" after Hunter's friends that are twins. Everyone had to have his own map and it was a major tragedy if any of the maps got lost. I like this zoo alot. It's a smaller zoo, but it has a lot of sea life as well as land animals.

Budding Photographer

Hunter spent all day yesterday with my camera. He posed all of his stuffed animals artistically and took pictures of them. We gave him an old cell phone which he takes pictures with, but he was frustrated that he couldn't print them out, so I let him use my camera. This picture cracks me up.

Portraits of Lily in her Blessing Dress

We bought this dress in Portugal when I was pregnant with Megan and we knew she was going to be a girl. Lily looks so much like Megan did at this age. She was really alert for her photos. The photographer said she had never gotten a 2-month old to smile like her before.

This is Lily in the dress I was blessed in. Grandma Wallace made it for me. She sewed all the seams by hand. For more pictures of our photoshoot, go to https://www.smilesbywire.com/home.asp?AC=LTPP0100110644JCP and under name enter, Jennifer Wright.

I love my little sister!

Hunter loves to hold Lily.

Spring has sprung!

Spring has finally arrived. We had our doubts when it snowed/hailed on April 19--the day before Lily's blessing. What a great welcome to our family from Texas and Arizona. These are flowers in our yard. These are called bleeding hearts.
These are the tulips Alex planted for me last fall.
More tulips and the pansies from last summer.
