Tillicum Village

Monday we went to Tillicum Village on Blake Island. It starts with about an hour boat ride to the island. The boys loved that. Especially since the savy boat operators placed their concessions conveniently at kid height. We had a nice view of Seattle from the water. When we arrived we were greeted with a real clam bake (unlike our previous bad attempt) They were pretty yummy and only slightly gritty. The kids loved throwing the shells on the pathway and crushing them. See picture below. After appetizers, we went into the long house and had a delicious salmon dinner. They cooked the salmon over alderwood and it was so good. We also had a special dark bread which was also very good. The event ended with a native american show. Lots of dancing and music. It freaked Lily out, so we wandered the gift shop, but Dylan seemed to like the show. The gift shop seemed to be the highlight for some of the boys though. Christian and Hunter ended up with the same stuffed animal--a beaver. Christian named his Super Beaver and Hunter initially named his Beaverman. Then he changed the name to Super Beaver II.
